THE FLIGHT

The flight was great...apart from no French Champagne!! Dubai was absolutely amazing, massive, 360 departure gates,.....zombie like passengers in transit sprawled everywhere, us included.
now in Rome with not much internet....120kmp down freakishly small motorways to reach Monti, just near the Collosseum. It has cobblestone streets, huge street lights, georgeous little delis, food shops, restaurants and apartments all jumbled into a wonderful place to be. First day couldn't get to where we wnted to go  cos of demonstrations and police everywhere blocking off streets.. found the Trevi Fountain by default by walking down streets to the left or right of where we wanted to go, couldn't even convince the police we just wanted to go down that street there....No, no...come back in an hour, after the demonstration. Okay. by that stage jetlag had kicked in again and we just wandered around to get home!!
Have seen the Colloseum... unbelelievable!! Met up with Kerry O'Brien there, just for a chat and a photo op!! Darcy has taken a huge amount of photos....some extremely non flattering!!
Off to the Vatican over the next few days, hopefully the internet will be back tomorrow and we will have more time to add to this... Signal is tres low!!
