A lazy start to the morning meant Christmas lunch started at 2.00ish with again stunning food.
Roast Beef and potatoes with the butter of foie gras over the top then baked. This was followed by salad and cheese, fruit and the special Christmas cake. Butter, butter, butter…absolutely delicious!!
Christmas presents were exchanged and again we were overwhelmed with the generosity of our French hosts.
Following lunch we headed off to La Boule, a Gold Coast lookalike area on the coast. Here was a Christmas Teddy Story all with fantastic lights, just for kids like us! Despite the fact that our French is basic, it goes to show that Christmas joy on children’s faces transcends all.
Back home to a light snack of pate, meats, salad, cheese and wine before the Jegous headed back to Nantes !! Got to pass on this recipe…unbelievably good. Take small potatoes and fill a Casserole dish with them, add some sliced ham, take 2 rounds of camembert or brie, slice in half and place on top of the potatoes. Bake in oven until cheese melted. Serve warm.
